AirMagnet Helps CBO Deploy Massive 802.11n Wireless Network for Australia's Largest Regional Convention Center
AirMagnet tools used to plan, deploy and manage a WLAN designed to support more than 3,000 simultaneous Gold Coast Convention Center staff and visitors
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 28, 2008 — AirMagnet Inc., the leader in security, performance and compliance solutions for wireless LANs, today announced that CBO, one of Australia's leading professional services companies specializing in wireless and mobility, used AirMagnet's tools to plan, deploy, and manage the 802.11n wireless network at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Center (GCCEC). The convention center is Australia's largest regional convention center and the only one in the country to provide complete wireless technology for employees and guests. The new 11n deployment provides simultaneous wireless access for more than 3,000 convention center staff and visitors.
"Once we decided to use 11n technology for the GCCEC, we knew we needed software tools that could handle the pre-deployment planning and surveying associated with an 11n rollout of this magnitude," said Nathan Tallack, CTO at CBO. Since we are dealing with new 11n technology, there was a bit of uncertainty as to how well it would perform and true range. For planning and design support at the convention center, CBO used AirMagnet Planner, AirMagnet Survey PRO and AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer for the 11n deployment. AirMagnet Survey and Planner allow CBO to easily and accurately plan and deploy the convention center's 802.11-based wireless network. AirMagnet Planner accounts for building materials, obstructions, access point configurations, antenna patterns, and a host of other variables to provide a reliable predictive map of Wi-Fi signal performance, while AirMagnet Survey allows CBO to collect live signal, packet and spectrum data during site surveys. AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer is critical for pre-deployment analysis of the local RF environment and reliable rollout of wireless coverage, as it confirms any local RF interference.
